Designed and manufactured at the Iveco plant in Sete Lagoas (MG), the Iveco Bus 170S28 chassis has been conquering more space in the big cities of Brazil and other Latin American countries, as a solution for passenger transport.

In another successful operation to increase its participation in the bus segment, the manufacturer has just sold a batch of 41 units and will complete the fleet of Viação Minas Gerais (VMG), a company based in Contagem, in the Belo Horizonte metropolitan area, in the state of Minas Gerais in Brazil.

The 12.8 meter long vehicles, bodied on a 170S28 chassis and mounted on Comil bodywork, will form part of the Minas Gerais fleet, which is the largest fleet of Iveco Bus vehicles in Latin America (with more than 100 units of the model ) and ten units of the Daily Minibus 45-170. With 40 years of tradition in passenger transport, VMG has its own fleet, as well as maintenance, workshops, 24-hour service and specialized advice for each client. VMG provides employee transportation for companies in the sector, from the capital of Minas Gerais to Sete Lagoas and within the municipality. They will function as a bespoke service, taking workers from the plant to their homes, especially for the Iveco Group.

For Gustavo Moreira, director of VMG, the partnership with Iveco Bus reinforces the company's passenger service standard with the comfort, safety and reliability of the vehicle based on the 170S28 chassis: "We have excellence in the provision of services as our main focus of our operation, which is why we trust the manufacturer for the acquisition of the new units.”

Last month, VMG was one of the companies awarded in the first edition of the Iveco Group Suppliers of the Year award, which highlighted suppliers from Brazil and Argentina for excellence and good performance in solutions, products and services. There, VMG was the winner in the Indirect Material Purchases – Services category.

Danilo Fetzner, director of Iveco Bus for Latin America, highlights the alliance between the brand and VMG, in addition to the importance of the operation to consolidate the presence in the 17-ton segment. “We have a robust and versatile product, the best cost-benefit in the urban and cargo segment. We are proud that our client renews his trust; this recognition of the quality of our chassis positions us in a good place compared to other large operators in the sector”.

The 170S28 chassis is part of the Iveco Bus offer, which recently presented its new Euro VI line on the occasion of LAT.BUS 2022, the largest urban mobility event in Latin America, during the fair, which took place in Sao Paulo from August 9 to 11,
